Two Caribbean-Canadian half sisters Maye and Angie meet at the funeral of their estranged father Thomas. Angie is a flamboyant wannabe-Trinidadian living in Toronto, Maye is a successful and detached Homeopathic doctor with an overbearing but affectionate mother, Daphne. Angie persuades Maye to come with her on a road- trip to meet all the other half brothers and sisters Thomas spawned during his irresponsible life. They argue, they bond, they have adventures on the road. They meet several of their half-brother's and sisters and find amazing similarities and differences. But one thing they all have in common is the hole left in their souls for not having and knowing their father. Some are successful some are destitute. All the half-brother's and sisters provide clues to their father's life and travels. While Angie thrives on learning more about her father, Maye retreats further and further into herself. When Angie presents a birth certificate Maye realizes the half sisters are in fact ‘whole' sisters. Maye was the result of an extra marital affair Thomas had with Angie's mother while still married to Daphne. Maye cannot cope with the lie her life has been, and brakes down. Angie is a loyal and steadfast bedside companion for Maye and virtually wills her back to stability. The two become completely close to each other and find a unexpected and profound love for each other..
